A Day in the Life of a Product Manager

Mo Mirza - Product Manager

What does a day in your life look like as a Product Manager for Kitopi?

My day revolves around understanding problems and opportunities in the business and quantifying what I can do as a Product Manager to drive the business forward. This involves working closely with project stakeholders to understand the impact of each project in order to establish the best opportunities to pursue. It then moves into a LOT of coordination with the tech and engineering teams to work on the actual execution. My team and I would then run multiple tests, pilots and hypothesis concurrently to develop the most robust and scalable solutions for all our kitchens.

What are some exciting events that you have been a part of? (Product launches, organization milestones etc)

It's hard to get too excited about the past when every project has been more ambitious than the last! We are currently in the process of rolling out two projects for our kitchens- one to support operations and another to support logistics- both with multiple layers of drivers such as automation and algorithms- algorithms in the kitchen! How exciting is that?! (too nerdy? *pushes fake glasses up the nose*)

Getting there involves working with an exceptionally talented team that includes mathematicians and computer science engineers. This, for me, is one of the most engaging and fascinating aspects of my work.

Can you share a time when you were wowed by Kitopi?

You mean other than every day? In fact, the most amazing thing you get to see in Kitopi is the dedication and passion people bring into the office every day. The level of drive Kitopians bring, which has the entire company pushing in the same direction, all aligned towards one goal – is truly a sight to behold!

What excites you most about your future with Kitopi?

Knowing that the projects I’m involved in today is influencing the direction of a future billion dollar company! Little old me is working on technology that will be implemented globally, practically changing how the world eats! You ordered food in NYC and received it in 15 mins? You’re welcome, we worked on that tech! SO EXCITING!

If you could share an advice with a potential new employee, what would it be?

Kitopi is like a mountain. It’s a lot of hard work with steep climbs but every day is rewarding. So if you are ready to challenge yourself, you won’t be alone - there will always be someone ahead of you setting up the ropes!
